Hello folks, today’s newsletter explores feminism as a practice of de-fragmentation, of putting back together, using ecology as a metaphor. This month I will be sharing a conversation I had with indigenous activist Aura Cumes which has been one of the most enriching experiences of my last years and one that definitely evolved my activism and writing language. I have been writing about feminist and gender issues for the past 10 years so I have a lot to say.

A few notes:

  • Know that Women’s Day is a day of struggle and not a celebration. When you wish someone a happy day on the 8th of March I know it often comes from your heart, but the context is problematic. This is a day that commemorates the killing of dozens of women in a factory in New York, burned alive in a fire. It is a day when we are reminded of abuse and oppression. Choose any other day to celebrate women, there aren’t enough on the calendar!

  • I’ve left a curated playlist specifically for this article and a writing exercise at the end of the essay. I love to imagine us listening to the same tunes 😍

Enjoy this essay 🌻 Thankyou for supporting WAVES.
