When I crave the present, I search for my body. I caress its curves to remind myself that I am alive.

It smells of honey in here, and everybody is dancing. I hear vibrations as I slowly move towards the sun, there is a reverberation, a party perhaps?

Every aspect of the waggle dance, a complex communication ritual between honey bees, has a meaning; the duration conveys the distance of the target, and the orientation of the dancing bee’s body relative to the comb provides information about the target location’s angle in relationship to the sun, the pheromone released helps to attract and alert other bees to the information being communicated. The bees remind me that connection to the body is a fundamental part of Ritual, which is one of the reasons that it has been such a healing tool for me. Connecting to my body has been a way to dismantle conditioning that came from societal impositions and personal experiences.
