Embodied Exploration: Joy as Courage
40-min sensorial ritual designed to connect with joy as a revolutionary substance.
“The sharing of joy, whether physical, emotional, psychic, or intellectual, forms a bridge between the sharers which can be the basis for understanding much of what is not shared between them, and lessens the threat of their difference.” Audre Lorde
Welcome to this Embodied Exploration! This is a series for paid subscribers of WAVES where we delve deeper into themes through ritual and our bodies. These practices are designed to be accessible and simple, do them at your own pace, and with your own possibilities.
This is for you if: you are feeling the need to connect to joy tenderly, if you want to be inspired, or if you want to simply journal with intention. I invite you to do this with other people if it feels good, as it is really beautiful to share your experience with someone who has explored with you.
I created this exploration for an audio series on advaya and they have kindly let me share it with you exclusively. Every element of this exploration is curated in synchronicity with the rest, but it is also designed for you to use what works for you and leave the rest.
What to expect: 40-minute audio practice designed to be done outside (or to connect to nature from the comfort of your bed!)
This practice is divided into three parts: the first is a storytelling meditation, the second is a gentle movement practice, and the third is what I call a radical reflection through writing. All you need for this practice is a notebook and pen, and your beautiful body.
You can pause now and find a place that is comfortable for you and where you can connect with the outside. Be it actually outside in a forest or a beach, near a window, on a park bench, or simply on your bed.
Sit back, relax, and start this audio journey
